Hey guys,
I'm considering a Macbook (or Air, or Pro) to replace my iPad (3re gen) and 07 iMac. Garageband is something I use quite often, primarily on the iPad.
I know there are potentially new announcements coming soon and I'll be waiting till after the March event to make a decision.
But assuming that there is no news in March I'm thinking that the Macbook will be the likely purchase. I like the portability and the $ saved vs the Pro could be spent on a PS4/Xbox1 to meet my gaming needs.
So for the Macbook, the obvious challenge is no 3.5mm port, which is what I use today on the iPad to interface my guitar.
Anyone been down this path and got feedback? I know there is an iRig USB adaptor (http://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/irigpro/) which will likely do what I need. But f I have m guitar plugged in then I cannot charge the Macbook without a USB hub or dock if I understand correctly. So really I need to consider Macbook + iRig + USB Dock vs the price of the Macbook Pro to make a fair comparison.
Am I missing anything obvious? Aside from port issues, any reason not to use a Macbook for Garageband?
[doublepost=1457673204][/doublepost]ok, just noticed that the Macbook still has the 3.5mm port. So unless there is a change in the March event, this is probably even easier than I thought.
