Is Garageband any good for producing Psytrance Ambient/psy music?...
Any help or ideas please

Many thanks

Yes, but move to Logic Express or Logic Pro for a DEEPER sound!

I don't know what kind of post production is applied to that style of music. But if it is just basic recording and mixing of a few instruments and adding some Apple loops then GB will do OK.

Sonically Garageband and Logic are the same. They use the same "engine". The difference is the number of features exposed in the user interface.

I would say start with GB. Then if you need more buy Logic express. Logic can directly import GB projects so it's easy to upgrade without loosing your work. The advantage of starting with GB is that. You get to learn about recording on the Mac for little investment and study you likely will want to move up.

Well I do know about ambient music, (Bmode's Eclectic Cafe) check it out on iTunes! And skip garageband and go right to Logic Express! Trust me on this one, you will out grow GB in about a week. Sonically they are probably very close yes, but for Ambient music, you need lots of post production and tools, GB falls short. I've been there.

Many thanks for your advice guys...i'm thinking that i may well start with Garageband just to get a handle on things and feel my way. then i'll definately move on to bigger and better things.
I have a Novation Xiosynth keyboard that i'll use as a midi controller too.
I've checked out your music on itunes too....very nice sound i must say :)
