I was wondering if anyone can tell how to interpret the two geekbench scores for these two machines?

The Air mid 2013 1.7GHz 8Gb RAM, which is what I have has a geekbench score of 3339/6237 (s/m)
and the latest Macbook mid 2017 1.4GHz 16Gb RAM has a score of 3932/7619 (s/m)

I want to see a performance boost while running VMWare Win 10 and Visual Studio 2017. I assume VMWare, Win 10 and VS all use both cores.
Will I see much of a difference if I purchase the Macbook 2017 1.4 or should I wait for the 2018 model or...???

FYI - My Air often runs with the fan on while using Visual Studio and is sometimes slow to startup my site in debug mode and debug each page in my site.

The big performance difference for VMWare is you can get the MacBook with 16 GB RAM.
