So I tested geekbench and got a score of 6308 . I think thats pretty impressive compared to my other macbook pro 17 3.06 at 4400. So its not so bad of an upgrade according to the numbers :)

INDEED! Welcome to the world of new architecture! I'll be buying one as soon as I get back home from India, and I'll hold onto it until the next major architecture update!

Good to hear our new MBPro units score well.

BUT, beware of other members here who will poke holes in these tests to validate their choice , or lack of, on buying the new hardware!

you really need to specifiy if it's the 32 bit or 64 bit geekbench score. They're different with different scores.

My new i5, sandard low config. made 5679 in the greekbench 64 bit test (4755 in 32 bit) - hope you refer to the 32 bit test.

Will you use all that power? The point of numbers nowadays is marketing... very few people end up using what they buy, the others use that power occasionally if not ever...

But good to know that you are happy :)

Hi the geekbench 32 bit is
5670 !

w00t

my tower is a 8500 clocked at 3.7 and it does 45xx in 32bit. Though its a very old vista install that really could benefit from a reformat. Yet again im sadden by the fact the 13" is still c2d :(

That is a pretty high number! I really didn't expect the difference to be that dramatic.
