I wonder if the i7 upgrade for the 13” is worth it? 16000+ is freaking amazing as it is.

Edit: how did laptop mag reach 18000 with the i5

Edit 2: laptop mag was using the i7

The new 13" base i5 quad core CPU is a beast. Faster than my 2016 15" MBP touchbar i7 quad core CPU.

Dang! By how much? I wanted to consider the 13” but since 2017 15” are dropping quite a bit settled for that and will try to wait it out for prices to drop / new design

My 2016 15" 2.6 i7 Quad Core Geekbench gets ~ 4200/13990 (45 watt CPU)

New 2018 13" 2.3 i5 Quad Core Geekbench gets ~ 4600/16700 (28 watt CPU)

So about 9% faster.

General reminder that Geekbench is a measure of peak performance and not of sustained performance.

Usual caveats regarding heat dissipation affecting sustained perf will probably apply.
