geko 201 and os X software

I was just wondering what's the best for waypoint mangement and maybe an on computer map. and does anyone know of a place to get a geko connector to usb without buying garmins geko to RS232 and the RS232 to usb connector if not... anyplace cheaper... cables cost almost as much as the GPS did... ?
