For those who take lots of notes with the Gen 2 Pencil, are there any replacement tips that can make it feel more natural? I'm finding that even though the iPad mini 6 is about the same size as my Leuchtturm notebooks, my handwriting is HUGE on the iPad. I still find it too slippery, for lack of a better word. A tip that provided a little bit of resistance would be great in making it feel more like writing on paper.

TIA for any recs!

That’s why I use matte screen protectors.
Same here. I couldn't find any replacement tips that offered the same kind of resistance as I get with the matte protector.

Interestingly, the S-Pen on my Tab S6 has the perfect amount of friction on the bare glass screen. If I could that an Apple Pencil tip made from the same material as the S-Pen, that would be perfect.

Is there a particular matte screen that you prefer? I'm looking into these Pen Tips as well to see what will work best for me.

I had a Surface for work w/ a Surface pen in an old job and I really liked it. It also felt more natural to use than the Apple Pencil but I hated using windows. lol.

I have used both a matte screen protector (my current one is magnetic and removable) and pencil nibs, a silicon covering for the tip which makes it more paper-like. It does not replace the apple tip, they a a cover placed over the tip. They go on and off easily and they do not fall off.

When it comes to matte screen protectors it's difficult because fewer and fewer companies are making them for tablets. All the cool kids go with tempered glass protectors.

I tend to avoid the "PaperLike" protectors since they can prematurely wear down the Pencil tip and are more expensive.

I prefer iCarez but I've had equally good experiences with SuperShieldz. All of my tablets have matte screen protectors.

Could you link the screen protector also? A magnetic one would be great.

Sorry about not posting the screen protector. Helpful hit, you can actually feel the black magnetic strip, place that on the down side touching the iPad. They have it in several sizes from 10.2 to 12.9 inches. Also keep the sleeve that it comes in and use that and the plastic sleeve to store it in for a little extra protection.

Update on these Pen Tips that finally arrived today! I should have splurged on expedited shipping. lol. They feel MUCH better and definitely more natural on the glass. I prefer not to use a screen protector but the tips are awesome.

Now I just need to settle on a Note app. I love the scribble to text in Notes but the native notes app doesn't offer enough organization. I like how OneNote allows you to organize with levels of nesting. Is there an app that combines the best of both worlds that also syncs between iPad & Mac? I'm asking for too much, aren't I. lol

Take a look at notability in the app store

Yeah, I've tried this app before and it wasn't quite right for me. I'm testing out Craft (saw someone mention it in another thread) and it's incredibly powerful. There's a bit of a learning curve but it's pretty intuitive once you get the hang of it.

Will use the free tier for a while to see if it's worth the steep sub. But it does all the things I need with multiple levels of nesting, intuitive formatting, fast sync between Mac & iPad, scribble to text, etc. Really great app.

What about Good Notes? I have had a great result with that app and currently use it at work.

Completely agree! I don’t see a lot of YouTube videos on PenTips but they are awesome with a tempered glass screen protector. They give you 5 tips in a cute little box and I’ve been using the same tip since I got them 3 months ago and it still doesn’t show any wear. And I love how the writing experience is so much quieter. No TAP TAP TAP. I’ve never used a matte screen protector and I like the clarity of the tempered glass but if it’s really paper like, then the writing experience must be really good. But PenTips are perfect for my needs.

I wish there was a trial period. I have no problem spending $ on apps but I need to be able to try something like this out first. Anyone know the grace period for "returning" apps? lol. I did find some good review videos on YT so I may give it a shot. TY for the rec!

I don't think there is a formal grace period, but I think if you are honest and reasonable and say that you tried it out for some reasonable number of days and just found that it didn't work, that maybe they would refund you. It's definitely worth a shot, but I have found that just using honest discussion (I returned a folio case after 35 days because the color I wanted wasn't available until then and I needed to get something in the meantime) and explanation about why you are seeking a return that is unusual in nature, it is often granted. Reasonableness is the key.
