I have a 2012 Macbook pro I brought it to a local apple shop 5 months a go for a non warranty repair hdd cable was broke when they repaired the computer it caught on fire at some point while they had it apart so they had to replace the logic board along with some other components for obvious reasons and gave me a 1 year apple warrenty but this brings me to today that same computer just had a logic board failure again I contacted apple and they are gonna inspect it and replace the logic board again im just scared its going to keep blowing through motherboards what would you guys suggest I should do or just keep getting apple to install new motherboards in it

I have replaced the sata hard drive cable on four different 13" MBPs and one 2009 15". None of them caught fire when I swapped the cable. I am not a computer tech but I made sure to disconnect the battery as soon as I removed the bottom cover in case something conductive falls into the machine while the battery is connected.

Sounds to me like the repair person may have left the battery or charger connected while working on the machine and dropped something conductive, like a screw or screwdriver, onto the motherboard and caused a short circuit. I have never heard of a situation where a motherboard caught fire during a sata cable swap.

That is one insanely large sentence.

Your post is very difficult to read.

OP:

Take the MBPro to a brick-n-mortar Apple Store, and have someone at the genius bar check the ribbon cable. Chances are, they -might- replace it for free (no promises)...

If the Mother board failed
And your warranty is in effect
Bring it in for repair
