Hey all now that I decided not to wait for cheaper 1GB sodimms, how likely is it that a generic 512 chip for $85-90 will work with an apple? Do I have to shell out the 120-140 for Crucial/Kingston/PNY?

well it will probably work it's just going to drag down your whole system
memory is really something that shouldn't be cheaped on

I started out with cheap generic stuff but my system was crashing 8-10 times a day. It's worth the extra money to buy good ram. When you've been working on a proposal for 2 hours and the system kernel panics, corrupts the saved file and locks up you won't care about the extra $30
