I have this icon in my launchpad.

I have never opened it. Can someone tell me what it is and should I leave it or get rid of it.

If the answer is get rid of it , how do I do that

Just did a search on Google. I suggest you do the same as it appears to be malware and there's certain steps you'll need to follow.

Thanks for the replies. I have downloaded Malwarebytes and Etrecheck

As for Genieo it does not appear to be causing problems that I can see and I have never opened it, I just saw it recently.

I have read some instructions on how to remove. Not sure if I am capable of doing this, taking about file extensions etc. I very much a novice, is it hard

The only harm it causes is more ads being displayed on web pages and such

If you run malwarebytes &/ Etrecheck, they probably clean it all up for you so you don't need to do anything else

But if they don't, no, the manual approach shouldn't be difficult.

I posted a link earlier on in this thread - just follow it step by step
