Genuine Apple headphones vs fakes

I'm looking to buy iPhone headphones on eBay, but how can I know what's authentic Apple stuff and what is fake? They seem to look identical. I'm in a country where nearest Apple store is 500km away.

Don't bother buying official Apple headphones, unless they're EarPods or the upgraded in ears. Just go to a drugstore or walmart and buy any one that's over $10.

They'll be better quality, to boot.

$10 headphones from drug store don't have mic, volume, or Siri...Which is what he wants. And I'd say that $10 drug store headphones are not better quality in any aspect of the word. Apple 4S buds suck for audio, but for what he wants they will serve him well.

Search for "authentic Apple headphones" and look for a seller with good feedback that isn't shipping from Hong Kong. Should be safe.

Not audiophile stuff at all but Skullcandy FMJ on their eBay store are $19.99 free shipping right now and are great. No volume, but mic, pause, play, ff/rw.

Don't bother with the Apple stuff, both their Mics and Earbuds suck.

99.9% of apple headphones on eBay are fake although they still work good as far as the vol and mic controls go sound quality is ok. I would not waste 30.00 on apple headphones and if you are i would buy the news ones that just came out. Just spend the 5.00 on eBay for the fake ones the average person can't tell. Even if you buy a couple sets ur still ahead of the game and next time you upgrade you will get new set.

My eBay headphones just arrived, seller says they are authentic and came out of iPhone4S box. They do not feel plastic or cheap, looking like real thing to me. Can someone do a comparison with their headphones?
