The only place to get a genuine battery is directly from an Apple store or authorized Apple depot.

I'm in Canada and, as far as I know, Apple dealers here and in the USA cannot sell the battery without installing it. It may be the same for other countries.

If you want a "genuine, Apple labeled battery", then...
... take it to a brick-n-mortar Apple Store and get the battery replaced,
or
Send it to Apple for a replacement (they should be willing to send you a prepaid shipping box).

In the USA, this costs $199 which includes:
- The battery
- Installation
- A short warranty on the work.

That's a bargain, when you stop to think about it...

Thanks, I did contact Apple yesterday but I can’t go to a store, it’s a 4 hour round trip to my nearest plus they couldn’t do it while I wait. I can’t mail it in as it’s my work laptop and I use it everyday.
Also in a COVID TIER 4 country so can’t leave the house.

Hi,

Does anyone know where I can get a new genuine macbook pro 15 mid 2015 battery for a1398 in the UK?

Thanks
Possible alternative?

A similar post last week suggested NuPower batteries from NewerTech. They're a lot less expensive than Apple's. Ought to be worth a look.

I replaced the battery in my wife’s 2012 Air earlier this year. I did a fair bit of research and ended up getting one from Amazon UK, it was branded “ Egoway” quality was excellent and it had all the relevant certifications. The added bonus was that the advances in battery chemistry since 2012 meant that the replacement had a higher capacity than the original.
I found it easy to do the swap, and I’m in my 70’s. If you’re happy with opening the back of your MacBook it’s certainly worth a go.

Those are your choices, as you've stated above.
If you're not willing to travel, and don't want to "mail it in", then you're going to have to "live with it".

You could consider buying and attempting to install a 3rd-party battery by yourself.
May work, may not.
But the only way you can get a genuine "Apple" battery is... from an Apple repair.

I spend all day repairing laptops, it’s my job. I’m happy to replace it but I’d prefer to purchase a genuine Apple battery. Nupower seems like a safe bet though but out of stock for the foreseeable. I’ll stay plugged in for now. 😀
