With NFC coming I'm not sure how useful it'll be but for now it's brilliant.

I was thinking the same thing. But I've been seeing NFC talk for a while, and no change. I don't see NFC being implemented widespread for a few years in the US. The financial institutions here just don't adopt new technologies very quickly.

If you've seen Visa's PayWave that's NFC (it's in a lot of US retailers already). My Chase card already has it. I find swiping the card is faster than tapping it though. *shrugs*
