A statement from geohotz lawyers have confirmed he's fled the country.

LOL at the people who donated money. Hope they enjoyed paying for his vacation.

For those of you who don't know who he is, he was the first to unlock the iPhone and created the blackra1n/limera1n jailbreaks and the blacksn0w unlocks. He is being sued by Sony for jailbreaking the PS3.

GeoHot wasn't getting a fair trial. It is obvious to any one with a half a brain that Sony has bought off the judges and has been using them to intimidate GeoHot. It is imperative that GeoHot get out of the country for now.

To anyone with half a brain trying to prove you are innocent by fleeing the country is not the best way to go about making yourself and your case look credible. If anything it has just made this case a hell of a lot harder for him and easier for Sony.

Hopefully Apple can find a way to go after him next, he deserves what he is getting.

Who wants to bet he forgets to check if his destination country has an extradition agreement with the US....

"Factually, it's true I'm in South America, on a vacation I've had planned and paid for since November. I mean, it is Spring break; hacking isn't my life. Rest assured that not a dime of legal defense money would ever go toward something like this. And of course Townsend loves the idea of painting me as an international fugitive. I have been in contact with my lawyers almost every day; I would not let the case suffer. That said, I also won't let this ridiculous lawsuit run my life either. Then the fearmongerers win.

I will be back, I hear it's hard to come by the Xperia Play down here."

Thank you for the clarification.

"Update: The BBC reports that while Hotz is acknowledging he is in fact in South America, the trip was planned "for months" and that he remains in contact with his lawyers. On his blog, Hotz wrote:

.. Some people take everything so seriously.

Your news is an old news. Applejuiced has posted this earlier this week within this thread.
