BERLIN (Reuters) - A real-life German cannibal who ate a willing victim is being immortalized on the big screen, like the fictional Hannibal Lecter, despite his legal bid to block the movie version of his gruesome crime.

"Rohtenburg" ("Butterfly -- A Grimm Love Story") is set to open in Germany on March 9 and will hope to profit from the shock and fascination the case of Armin Meiwes evoked in a transfixed public in Germany and beyond.

A movie about a crazy german penis eater?
Tastes like chicken.

Bet people are lining up to be in the starring role.

I watched a documentary about this guy. It was quite interesting as it concentrated on how they had met and how the victim had a fantasy of being eaten, and the other guy had a fantasy of eating someone, and how they negociated it all. Not that knowing all that stops it being utterly crazy, but interesting how there's a match for everything out there on the web whether it's good or bad!

I wonder if the film is all about "Oh my god! He ATE him!" or whether it would be more like this documentary.

see.... something like that would be interesting. but i suppose it depends on how a movie of such a thing were approched. it could work. or it could be very bad. chances are that it'll be bad though.

eh it happens. there is a Rammstein song about this too if i remember correctly.

yes that song is called mein teil (or my piece) from the album reise reise. look it up in itunes, its a nice sounding song. anyways he tried to sue rammstein for that too

As horrible and gut wrenching as it is, it could actually be a good movie if they approach it properly.

If they try to make it a thriller/horror film it will probably just suck but if they do it documentary style and focus more on the events leading up to it than the actual act I would watch it.
