So if I backup my Music Folder on my Mac and restore it, the playlists in iCloud override it.

How can I make a backup that I can later restore to Apple Music without it being overwritten by iCloud in the event I resubscribe at a later date?

I also tried backing up m3u playlists and XML playlists. These do not work to restore because the songs are required to already be in your library.

It really seems that there are no backups to be made, other than what is stored in your iCloud Music Library, which is not really a backup, just a Cloud version.

So I cancelled my subscription and all my playlists and songs were deleted as expected after toggling the “Sync my Library” setting off and on.

At some point in the future I may resubscribe to see if my playlists come back.
