Amazon today has Apple's Magic Keyboard for the 11-inch iPad Pro and fourth/fifth generation iPad Air at $179.99, down from $299.00. This is the first time we've tracked a deal on the keyboard in 2024, and it's a solid second-best price on the accessory.

Specifically, the Magic Keyboard is compatible with the 11-inch iPad Pro (first, second, third, and fourth generations) and the iPad Air (fourth and fifth generations). Amazon only has the black color option at this $179.99 price tag, and it's currently the only retailer offering such a low price.

If you're shopping for an iPad to pair with the Magic Keyboard, Best Buy has every model of the 5th generation iPad Air on sale at an all-time low price right now. Prices start at $449.99 for the 64GB Wi-Fi tablet, down from $599.00. These are $150 off across the board, and also include best-ever prices on both cellular models.

I wanted a keyboard case for my iPad Pro for a long time, but since my primary machine is a MacBook, I get away with Universal Control for the most part, and do without a keyboard if I take my iPad out/away with me and not my Mac.

It's a good option if you only have an iPad, I guess, if not a little pricey for what it is.

This is one item that desperately needs an intelligent monkey to design. The last monkey was not so much.

It's a tablet. Any keyboard should be able to be positioned to use the device as a tablet when needed, without removing the keyboard and laying bare the iPad's fragility...

just ordered

positive experience of keyboard keys and trackpad after using the 12.9 inch model

I really wanted this keyboard but could never justify the £300 price tag.

Enough time has passed that I now couldn’t justify a £200 price tag either.

It’s hugely over priced for a keyboard. A travel-friendly bluetooth keyboard is the way to go.

It depends. I have it for the 12.9 inch Pro, and I’ve used it since May 2020. I’m going to replace it on Black Friday this year and it‘s the only thing that allows me to turn my iPad into a laptop replacement. I never use the Macbook Pro. The cheaper keyboard didn’t do the job, and anything third party Bluetooth lags and drains power. It’s expensive, but I use it every day for hours whereas it would sit if I didn’t hav eit.

I tried a bunch of cheap iPad keyboards and thought they were all junk, and then I tried the Magic Keyboard and it was exactly what I wanted. It's one item that I would pay full price for to replace if I had to do it tomorrow.

Everyone’s needs are different. One thing many people seem to overlook is the extra usb-c port that is gained with the magic keyboard. Some people have had the main usb-c die out on them, but with the magic keyboard and the extra usb-c port you can prolong the life of the iPad.

A cheaper option and highly recommended option is the logi tech combo case. It give you a case for the iPad and you can pop it off the keyboard so one gets the best of both worlds.

I just ordered the 12.9” model off of Woot for $199. It’s the last accessory I’ll buy for my 2020 iPad Pro before giving it as a hand me down (with the keyboard). I plan on getting the new OLED models this year, but the discount magic keyboard is going to delay that a bit to Fall/Winter. I use my iPad Pro with a wired keyboard and mouse, so this should be a nice upgrade over that. Definitely more lap-worthy.

Better to wait and see what Apple announces over the next few days/weeks before making a purchase.

Love the keyboard and hardly ever use my iPad Pro without it. Still find the price eye-wateringly high (but still am very curious what the new version will be like, ho hum).

I purchased an 11“ iPad pro and Magic keyboard in 2020. I was working from home a lot and wanted something to use on the paitio (I also have an iMac). The price was high even with a modest educator discount but this keyboard made using the iPad for work related things so much better and I never regretted the purchase. I love this keyboard for my iPad.

Now with new pros coming out soon I would consider upgrading this summer, but It’s gonna be tough to bite the bullet for a new magic keyboard, especially when it looks like it will cost more. I like the versatility of the iPad and keyboard, and I don’t need a laptop, so I’m probably going to be tempted for the setup.

It would be nice if the new iPad pros were compatible the current magic keyboards, but I’m pretty sure I read that’s not the case. Time will tell …
