has anyone tried this? does it work? i need to return my 3gs on launch day is there any way i can restore it to OS 3 before returning it.

I tried it on my iPod Touch 2G, yeah it works and is very simple. If you want to get back to the normal firmware (3.1 etc) you just download that file and do the exact same, alt click restore and choose the file.

so i need to use itunes beta 9.2? because i dont have a mac.

iTunes 9.2 beta is not available for Windows.
