iOS Get list of installed apps

Hey all,

Search has revealed mixed answers regarding the ability to retrieve a list of installed apps on an non-modified (jborked) iPad / iPhone. The purpose of my application is not to write, or modify the apps in anyway, but to build an inventory for legitimate purposes.
