Hello,
I am going to purchase my first mac tomorrow and I am wondering what option is better for long term use.
I would either get the base model i7 13 inch or add more ram and get a 128 gig SSD.

Thanks in advance for the help!

The jump in processor is a waste of money. Get the baseline and buy the ram yourself from an online site for 50 bucks. No sense wasting money when you don't have to.

And no, using your own ram doesn't void the warranty and you can install it within 5 minutes of getting it.

I bought the 13" base model, then bought an 8GB RAM upgrade and a Seagate Momentus XT Hybrid drive for about $180. That gave me the added memory as well as a faster HDD than stock without the SSD premium.

The jump in processor only gives you Hyper-threading. The baseline + upgrades give you extreme speed.
Use common sense and get both. xD Or get the baseline + upgrades
