Amazon today has a new all-time low price on Apple's 9th generation 64GB Wi-Fi iPad, available for just $199.00, down from $329.00. This sale beats the previous low price by about $30, and it's available in both colors right now on Amazon.

Additionally, you can get the 256GB Wi-Fi iPad for $349.99 on Amazon, down from $479.00. This is another new record low price on the previous generation tablet. If you prefer shopping at Best Buy, you'll also find many of these deals being matched at that retailer this week.

Although these iPads are a few years old at this point, today's new ultra-low prices should make them perfect for anyone looking for a simple and cheap iPad for daily Internet browsing. Our full Deals Roundup has more information on the latest Apple-related sales and bargains.

Worth the buy? Price sounds awesome... would hate for it to be bricked in 4-5 years with AI software etc

I forgot how long ago the Gen 9 released. I wouldn't buy this at this price myself, because it will most likely be slowed down greatly due to AI software. I'd be better off spending the extra money on the next gen version, when it becomes available.

Any grandma type users may find this price interesting who just consume YouTube, Google Search, Facebook, WhatsApp (Sorry, you can’t do WhatsApp in iPad LOL)….This price will be ok. Apple may have stopped making them all long ago and spares may be difficult to get after couple of years.

This is the type of device that's perfect for my six year old. He can read, consume media (sigh) and do schoolwork on it at a fairly low price point.

Come off it, it’s not going to be ‘bricked’ in 4-5 years. My original 2010 iPad still works… ! Perhaps you just mean outdated / not getting updates?

I recently got an iPad Pro to replace my 9th gen, and although it’s obviously a huge upgrade overall there are things I still prefer about the 9th gen. Even just as a big iPod, it‘s the last iPad to have a headphone jack, which Macrumors and others always seem to forget to point out for some reason.

The latest generation base iPad came out only a year later (and is going on 2 years old) and doesn’t support Apple Intelligence because it comes with only 4GB of RAM.

I suspect the 11th generation iPad, whenever it comes out, will have 8GB of RAM with either an A16 or A17.

But as others have pointed out, just because it doesn’t support AI doesn’t mean the device will suddenly become bricked. I suspect most users who would be satisfied with a 9th or 10th generation iPad would never use AI features.

Right, my mistake. I meant to say it would be better to get the next gen version, when it becomes available. I don't think AI software will brick it, but I do think it could potentially slow the system down greatly if one uses it.

I have one and it runs just fine with iOS 18PB. It’s become my daily driver. 😆

Lightning port is not a barrier since our other most-used devices are iPhone 12, iPhone 13mini, iPhone SE2, and iPad Mini gen 5.

Nah, i'm using a 9th gen with JavaScript enabled and I visit JV heavy sports website CBSSports.com and it loads and runs the website just fine. Though this could be the last year for updates. Nothing has been confirmed but it is something to consider.

Apple Intelligence can’t run on the 9th or 10th version base ipad, so this really isn’t of any concern.

Got mine from my friend for $100 plus swapping for a used fourth generation iPad mini but that’s a pretty good deal and it’s still pretty peppy. :p

I expect this device to only get 2-3 more OS updates. iPadOS 20 may be its final update. The 7th gen iPad is on life support (shocking that it’s going to get iPadOS 18), and I would suspect that A12 and A13 devices will be dropped together.

But there are many people that use their devices well beyond the last OS update. I’ve never been one of those people, but that’s because I like staying up-to-date with my tech.

This is something you buy for your kids or an older person who just want to watch videos and browse the internet. If you know what the acronym AI stands for this isn’t the tablet for you.
