Best Buy today is discounting the previous generation 13-inch M2 MacBook Air (256GB) to $649.00, down from $799.00. This sale is available in Starlight and Midnight, and Best Buy provides free two-day shipping or local pickup if your local Best Buy has stock.

The Silver option displays an even steeper discount, but we haven't seen this model in stock in weeks, so the current $150 discount offered for the other colors is your best bet. This is still a great low price on the M2 MacBook Air, which should be a perfect laptop for anyone looking to accomplish day-to-day tasks like checking email and streaming video.

Mac deals are in abundance for Black Friday 2025, and the newer M4 MacBook Air is one of the best all-around discounts during this year's event. On Amazon, you can get the 13-inch M4 MacBook Air for $749.00 and the 15-inch model for $949.00, but be sure to check our Best Black Friday deals post for even more Apple-related deals.

For everything else, we're keeping track of the season's best deals in our Black Friday roundup, so be sure to check back throughout the month for an updated list of all the most notable discounts you'll find for Black Friday 2025.

I’ve had one of these since it was launched in late 2022 and am quite satisfied with it (I went for the biggest memory, 32 GB, and storage, 2TB, options to future proof it.)

But I don’t think this is a reasonable discount on a 3 year old processor with tiny storage.

the M4 at $749 is a much better deal especially if you have a best buy card, they are doing 24 months no interest ($31/month) - the m2 doesn't qualify for that.

I’d spend the extra $100 on Amazon for the M4 model at that point.
Exactly, even the M3 for a $100 less would be a bad idea to get at this point.

I can't imagine trying to manage on a 256gb laptop. On a phone? No problem, but a computer would be difficult.
Yeah, you don't need to, for that extra $200 you'd spend on a mere 256GB, you can go 2TB with a fast ssd and a small external case.

I was at my local Best Buy this afternoon to get a base M4 Air and saw that they had an open box M2 16GB/256GB for just under $600 and was mightily tempted.

I could easily manage everything except multimedia on a 256, and multimedia could easily be managed on an external drive.
External drives on a desktop are a no-brainer. On a notebook which you'd carry around, toss on park benches and keep on your lap -- not so much. Heck, even protruded pen drives could be a liability with some poor luck, in my experience.
