I read on this site a couple years ago that iPads are unique in that Apple doesn't release refurbished versions of the current models. So you (and I) will have to wait for M5 iPPs to get these on refurb. This is a pretty good sale, though, even compared to an edu discount (if you qualify for that).

Apple makes the iPad too well...I have an ancient Pro model, and still have a hard time justifying buying a new M4 version; despite how nice those are, and any discounts.

It seems like a good deal until I realize that I would need a new smart keyboard too. I could reuse my Apple Pencil 2 and skip the Pencil Pro though.

I think I will stick with my M1 iPad Air for now. It’s heavier and the Touch ID on it kinda sucks but it is plenty fast with the M1 chip.

Sorry to say, you will need a pencil too. When they moved the camera to the side they changed the magnets and charging coil. The Pencil Pro will need to be ordered along with the keyboard.
