At some point, ipad os has to evolve. Right now it is still oversized phone os which severly limits capabilities of m4 devices. Obvious changes are true desktop, finder and file management on par with mac os at least.

The iPad Pro is significantly more expensive than the MacBook Air. While it’s a powerful device, most users don’t fully utilize its processing capabilities the way MacBook users do. Unlike the MacBook, which caters to a broad range of users, the iPad Pro tends to appeal to a more niche audience. If it could run even a hybrid version of macOS, it might attract a wider user base. For those who simply want an iPad alongside their MacBook, a standard iPad or iPad Air is often a more practical choice. Originally intended to bridge the gap between the iPhone and MacBook, the iPad still feels more like a larger iPhone than a true middle ground.

I would even be fine buying Apple's super overpriced keyboard cover if it was required for a "macOS mode".
