I recently came into a late 2006 iMac with a 2.16 C2D and 2gigs of ram. I was wondering what I should do to get the most from this little guy? I've already shoehorned Mavericks onto it via SixtyFourforThirtyTwo and I plan on on maxing out the ram (3.3gbs ). I called staples and they said they had a 2gb stick for $34.95 (I'd buy two because there's allegedly a performance gain even though it doesn't utilize the full four gigs). Not really sure if thats a great price considering how archaic the ram is (I personally feel it's a bit steep. I'm also considering a 500gb hybrid drive. Thoughts?

A DVD is stuck in the drive, and all the software methods to force eject it are a big no-go. What should I do? I don't need the drive but it's presence is really irking me hahaha

Note: I'm not looking for any miracles, but general usage is pokey (scrolling on webpages is rather, well,, and moving to a fullscreen video isn't pretty to say the least). My goals for this machine would be streaming HD video, web browsing, and, while I wouldn't be surprised if this would be impractical, but, some light photoshopping.

Thanks a load in advance
