Amazon and Best Buy today have introduced major discounts on the 14-inch and 16-inch M3 MacBook Pro, providing up to $500 off select models of the 2023 computer. In regards to Best Buy's prices, these deals are available to all members and do not require a My Best Buy Plus/Total membership.

Best Buy's and Amazon's deals include all-time low prices on the 14-inch and 16-inch models, and the best discounts will be found on the larger screen computers. The 16-inch M3 MacBook Pro is currently discounted by $500 on Amazon and Best Buy, which are solid second-best prices. You'll also find up to $300 off the 14-inch computers at both retailers.

If you're shopping for the MacBook Air, we're also tracking a massive collection of discounts on the M2 and M3 MacBook Air models this week. The M2 MacBook Air is available for just $799.00, while the M3 models start at $849.00.

These sales are going to get even larger whenever M4 drops…. While supplies last of course. The fact that Amazon/Best Buy have to offer such large discounts proves (in my opinion) that Apple has overpriced its higher-end MacBooks… Why offer discounts if demand exceeds supply? I’d wager that for most consumers, the new m3 pro/max machines, while good, aren’t worth the increase in price $$$ over just buying an older machine. M1 Max is still very potent and very relevant in 2024.

Undeniably great deals but the issue I have with these stock machines (non CTO/BTO) is how low they are on SSD storage. Who's buying an M3 Max 16" and only needs 1 terabyte of storage? My M1 Max has 4TB and I'd not go lower than 8TB when I replace it. Since BestBuy only stocks specific configs, I'm stuck buying direct from Apple which...

Eliminates my perk of having free AppleCare included by purchasing through Best Buy (Total Tech Family here) and saving $500. Pay to play I guess but needing more than 1 terabyte of storage in a MacBook Pro makes a Best Buy purchase impossible.

Bear in mind you may get a better config for a better price at the official Apple Refurb Store. The 16" Max 1TB 48GB is $3399 for example

who is stupid enough to buy M3s when it's already been replaced by M4 that's coming in a few months with significant better AI chip, when everything is moving towards AI... It's not like they giving 50% off.....

The M3 Pro gets better ML performance than the M4 in the iPad.

Who would be stupid enough to buy M4 when M5 is already on the way.

See how it works.

Not really, this is an unusual upgrade cycle due to ai. usually it’s 2 years before next cpu, here it’s close to 6 month - 1 year

I'm getting one maxed out for my daughter who's a graduate student in electrical engineering. Semester will start at the end of August, so this is the right time.

Apple education store discount is better for the 14"

A maxed out one is about the same. I've decided that the 14" MBP with 1 TB SSD seems to be the sweet spot.
After tax, Best Buy is $2,282 and Apple Store is $2,383 (before gift card). Best Buy is doing 18 months 0% financing too.
