Hi there,

I have some problems with starting Windows 7 RC 64bit with WMWare.

I got Windows 7 RC 64bit installed on my Bootcamp Partition.
Windows 7 works fine and everything.
I want get it working with VMware.
I have VMWare 2.0 installed.
My problem is, that Windows 7 doesn't start with VMware, here is what I did:

- Start VMWare
- The Bootcamp Partition is in the "playlist"
- So I choose it and say that it is a "Windows Vista X64 Edition" or "Windows Server 2008 X64 Edition" / I tried both.

So when I Press the start button it says:

"VMWare is preparing to start your Bootcamp Partition, this may take a few minutes".

So I am waiting hours and nothing is happening, I tried it three times. Does anybody know what I am doing wrong. Didn't found any solution on Google or macrumors.

thanks !

I installed Win 7 Ultimate x64 RTM version into an empty Server 2008 VM with no problems. Bootup gets a little funky, but then VMWare doesn't officially support Win 7 yet. VMWare tools installed successfully into the new VM.

Is your partition virtual or physical?

Virtual. I have absolutely no interest in booting straight into Windows. And I am running a newer version of Windows 7 than you as well. I have run the Win 7 beta, RC, and RTM versions within Fusion successfully, so maybe something is going on with Bootcamp and the creation of your partition? It doesn't officially support Windows 7 either.

Well, I don't want to install a newer Version right now.Windows in Bootcamp works fine, no problems. I know that VMware doesn't support it officially, but many people are telling, it works fine... :(

Btw. I installed Windows 7 not with Bootcamp. I installed it directly on a empty Harddisc in Bay 4 on my Mac Pro. VMware recognized it as a Bootcamp Partition. Maybe it has something to do with that, I dont know.

anyone ? I'm sure there are people on this site which are running Windows 7 on a single harddrive with VMware successful. :(
