Getting a lot of popups/ads. Could it be malware?

Hi! I've been getting a lot of weird ads lately on my mac (2011 13 inch Air osx 10.8) Often when I click on link, a new tab opens with an ad in it. (and my WOT extension which rates how safe a site is flags it)

This had just started in the last couple of weeks or so. First it happened on just one site (a TV show reviewing website) , which I thought was the problem. But now it's happening on my Google searches as well! Or on Goodreads, basically everywhere except for Facebook.

I have AdBlock installed, and I've deleted my cookies and cached images from the last month.

Anyway I can fix this? Is my mac in danger?

So if you haven't figured it out yet, porn sites have a lot of pop up ads, Ad Block Plus is your friend.
