getting a new iphone 4 in the mail bc of battery issues

the battery was dying quickly. i went to the apple store a few weeks ago, they told me to do some stuff, i did it. the battery didnt really improve, so i called and they are sending me one and i have to send mine back. i also told them it gets warm sometimes. the reason listed is that it gets warm although the real reason is the battery. i told him about it getting warm after he was going to send me a new one because of the battery.

anyhow, my question is when will it get here? it says it was shipped today. how long does this usually take ?
 
Well you could check to see if they gave you a tracking number, since we aren't fedex delivery specialists.
But you gotta account for the holiday this week postponing it as well.
 
hmm. my other question is will i be able to bring it to the apple store before i open it and pay the difference for a 4S ?

No you won't, they are not about to give you full credit on your iPhone 4 towards an upgrade.
The phone being sent to you is a referb/ reconditioned one, not a new retail brand new one.

This is not true, and I wish people would stop perpetuating this rumor. Apple makes batches of phones for retail boxes and batches of phones for the Genius Bar to use for warranty replacements. The phones in either case are new.

The glass and shell are new, but not the entire electronics. For purposes they look and perform like a new one, but are traceable by their serial number as a reconditioned unit.
Chances are they will include the phone and not the charger, ear plugs or retail box... At least that's what my wife's replacement iPhone 4 was, even though it failed only 6 weeks after she bought it.

For sprint that might be, if they have only been on the market for a month or so.
If your past your 30 day return period, they are not going to give you full credit towards a 4s
