I'm getting a returned (refurb/within 14days) iPhone from O2 (UK) on a new contract, so the iPhone is cheap. its a iPhone that has been returned within the 14days cooling off period as not wanted etc.

is there a way to check warranty? on it? serial number check or something? to see if Apple "know" about it? ie I till want a 12month warranty with it. so want to be sure, as if not will inform O2.

I also would like to know when it was made/bought/1st returned if possible?

cheers

Wirelessly posted (Opera/9.80 (J2ME/MIDP; Opera Mini/4.2.13337/1226; U; en) Presto/2.2.0)

Thanks so much for that. . Will check as soon as it arrives. How will the warranty work if its a returned/refurb? How does Apple know that the iPhone is now been given to a customer? What if I get it and warranty checker states only 10months left? Cheers

refurb phones normally have a new serial number. Which should reset the warranty. I think you would register the phone as well.

Well I checked both them sites with my serial number and it is unrecognised!?! :(

I went to Apple Store Chat, and they gave same link, told them and they said to ring Apple Support in morning.

Take it this is because its a refurb? looks in mint condition though

It was yes from O2 in UK as an upgrade, but it was free! £GS 16Gb free just on a new 18Month contract.

Why do you ask? is this bad? have you got one? bad reports of it or something?

please tell/help me, I confirmed with them that it has a 1 year warranty (O2 I mean)

cheers

No, I had a 3G contract (6mths into 18mths) but didn't like the phone, so O2 rang me and offered me a 14 day return 3G for £70.

They must have noticed I was using a Blackberry (I'd sold the original 3G) hence the offer. Anyway I didn't have to re-contract and essentially got an as new, extra commitment free 3G for £70!

I told them I would likely sell it before I accepted the offer and they were fine with that.

mine had 12 mths warranty, confirmed with Apple website.
