I am buying a Sony PSP off my friend for a good price. What are some games worthwhile playing?

Patapon, Locoroco, God of War Chains of Olympus, Wipeout Pure/Pulse, GTA Liberty City, Metal Gear Portable Ops, Ape Escape Academy

Good list there, and I know the GTA games are really cheap. And don't confuse Metal Gear PO with PO+. I think PO is supposed to be better.

I like all of the GTA games for psp. If you like RPG's, defiantly get Final Fantasy 1+2. Try Flatout, NFS Carbon, and NFS Most Wanted if you like racing.

Also, if you like modding, get a pandoras box and revert your system back to 1.50 firmware. Then, upgrade to a custom firmware like 3.40 OE-A or 3.90 M33. These allow you to run custom games and other custom software that other people made. Very cool.

I've been mostly playing:

Vice City Stories
PoPoLoCrois (beautiful RPG, apparently has some cult following)
Tomb Raider Anniversary
Crisis Core
FF7 (via the PS1 emulation thing)
FF Tactics
Street Fighter Alpha 3 (most played game)
LocoRoco (does get just a tad repetitive)

Currently waiting for R-Type Command.

I really didn't like:
Wipeout (too used to F-Zero. feels way to slippery compared)
Brave Story (imported, absolute bog-standard no frills RPG)

I won't repeat what other said in the thread.....I'm just going to add.

Ultimate Ghost N Goblins.....if you like a challenge
SOCOM: FTB2 / Tactical Strike.....if you like online multiplayer
Syphon Fliter......great games and online is grand for a portable
Gradius Collection
Silent Hill: Origins......if you are a horror/SH fan
Castlevania.....still a classic
Mega Man Maverick Hunter X.....good remake of a classic

I must recommend putting a custom firmware on the PSP.....the homebrew is excellent and PS1 games are still classics on the system.

If you've never played Medievil [originally PS1 release], I highly recommend downloading it from the PS Store for your PSP.

Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles.

It includes a 3D remake of the never release in the US Rondo of Blood and a port of Castlevania Symphony of the Night (only one of the best games to ever be released ;)) so yeah.

Definitely recommended if you like action platformers.

I played a mates version of that and wasn't too pleased. I didn't like having to unlock SotN, and the Rondo of Blood gameplay has not aged well.
Skipped that and just ripped my SotN CD. Playing through at the mo and it really is a ruddy brilliant game.

Crisis Core is a very cool game.....thats coming from a guy that don't like RPGs in the slightest(not including Oblivion)

Theres a new space invaders game coming out.....looks very trippy like Lumines and Every Extend Extra...I think I'll have my hand at it.

CSotN was the first Castlevania I really liked. It's my third favorite of the series.

Has anyone played Parappa the Rapper? I used to love that game

The $19.99 PSP release is a faithful port of the original PS1 title, but it's just not the same. I think you're better off with your fond memories. Don't sully them with harsh reality.:D
