Hi,My dad does emails word, and uses finance software which I can get a mac equivalent for,But what I don't know weather to get a 11" 2010 model or a 2011 model:confused: any one that has has used both?

They're similar in performance for what he would do... but I'd say just go 2011 for the convenience of the backlit keyboard. I know my dad would like that

get the 2011...also you sure dad will have no issues with 11" screen size? im 50 and as much as i like the 11" compact size,i would get the 13" purely for my eyes.

I am getting him a 13" he has a 15' windows laptop but he prefers using my mac for osx:D so 13" 2011 model it is.

I bought my father a 13" MacBook Air when they did the refresh. He reads news online, checks his emails, and occasionally uses iPhoto.

Seems to work very well. He doesn't use USB anything, or care for optical media. He enjoys the portability, and the built-in SD card reader is a good thing to have.

I had the 2010 and replaced it with the 2011. Both 11". I would go for the 2011. Keyboard illumination is a really nice feature. I prefer the 11" because I want maximum portability. I use it at home connected to a Thunderbolt display. However, if he will not be using an external monitor, you may want to go for the 13". Also, for a bit of future proofing, I would shoot for the 4GB RAM.

Get the 256 if you can afford it. You can never have too much disk space.

Your father is really lucky to have a son like you! In my family, I buy the computers for the kids and had to buy my own MBA. :D
