I want an iPhone 6 or 6+ but unlocked version with AT&T. Currently have AT&T and want to use it internationally if possible. Also I have some AT&T Promotional Gift Cards I received for my family's iPhone 4s.

Those my logic sound good?

1. Get a iPhone 6 from AT&T store (to use promotional gift card) and get it with NEXT.

2. Pay off the balance using the AT&T Trade-In Promotion gift card.

3. Request AT&T to unlock my phone.

--> If the above is possible, what happens if my iPhone needs a replacement for any problem (planning to get AppleCare from Apple)? Will Apple give me an unlocked iPhone since my original iPhone was unlocked?
