I just had an idea and wondering if anybody can tell me whether or not this will work...

I just bought service with AT&T in March and got a $30 refurb Curve in preparation for the iPhone 3g.. thus, I'm naturally disturbed by the $499 16GB pricing and not being "eligible" to upgrade until 09/2009. The AT&T website says that somebody who purchases an iPhone before July 11th is eligible for the subsidized $299 pricing.

My friend has the original iPhone right now.. if she gives me the iPhone on July 10th, and she manages for one day w/o having a phone.. then my plan would be converted to iPhone plan, and AT&T would still think she were on the iPhone plan. I doubt they require you to physically bring in your old iPhone to get the new pricing. Come July 11th AT&T thinks both of us have the iPhone that we purchased before July 11th..

Will this work?
