Getting Contacts + Calendard off of iPhone to new computer?

I recently formated my boot drive and installed OS X Tiger (Leopard was too buggy for running Final Cut Studio). Anyways, I forgot to export my contacts and my calendar, I want to make sure I don't accidently get them erased when I sync my iPhone for the first time, is there anyway to ensure this? I want to take all my contacts and calendar events from my iPhone at put them on my computer. Any ideas?
