The screen on my laptop isn't working- it just shows white or grainy stripes of colour before turning black. It's a MacBook that's about 3 years old and it's already got a load of glitches (like shutting off instantaneously when it's unplugged.) Anyway, there are a few documents I need to get off of it. I have a USB flash drive/thumb drive/whatever you call it, and I can borrow a family member's laptop to transfer a few documents to, but not my entire hard drive.
Or can I temporarily switch the hard drives on 2 macs so that mine goes in a working machine? I'm not at all technologically savvy and I don't want to break anything.
I'm also pretty sure I don't have any cables or anything to connect 2 devices.
Thanks!

Two options come to mind.

1. Get an adapter so you connect an external monitor.
2. Buy an external USB enclosure for a 2.5" hard drive, remove the hard drive from the laptop and connect it to a PC, copy your files off.

1. Sounds a lot easier.
