I pay $20 a year for Windows Live Mail Plus which lets me access it via POP.

This works perfectly fine on Mail.app OSX.

I've yet to get this working on Mail.app iPhone. It'll stall constantly at "checking for mail..." and when that succeeds, it'll show the correct number of messages on the server but never download any.

Other POP accounts and GMail work fine. IzyMail.com as a Hotmail forwarding service works fine as well, but I don't want to pay them $18 a year when I've already paid $20 a year to Microsoft for POP access and it should work fine.

Why isn't Hotmail/Windows Live Mail working on my iPhone? Again, it works perfectly fine on Mail.app OSX.

Thanks.

Works fine with my windows live hotmail plus acct

From Microsoft, just use these parameters and it works on my 3G.

Everything seems to be correct, but whenever I go to get my mail I see this:

Whenever I click to load more messages it stalls out and does nothing.

IzyMail.com will do Hotmail forwarding and I've tested it (demo account) and it works on the iPhone 3G. But it's $17.95USD a year. I don't want to pay that as I've already paid $20 for Windows Live Mail Plus with POP and it should be working, but it doesn't.

Only one difference on my iphone hotmail settings

Goodcow, On the smtp.live.com authentication page I show the check mark on the "Password" line, not the MD5 challenge line. All other pages look to be the same as mine.

Everytime I try to change it to PASSWORD, when I go back to the menu it defaults back to MD5.

How many messages are in your inbox? Do you think it's the 40,000+ for mine that's causing Mail.app to go crazy?

I notice I've also had three Mail.app crashes today:

MobileMail-2008-07-19-163624.crash
MobileMail-2008-07-19-171548.crash
MobileMail-2008-07-19-180512.crash

I think I'll leave my iPhone plugged in overnight with push turned on and 15 min checking to see if it finally downloads these messages, because I see it's attempting to do something and chewing through bandwidth usage... then just crashing and not actually listing messages.

Your message count is pretty high. Could be the problem

I pare down and move me emails in outlook daily. I have maybe 10-20 daily. Thats about what my iphone sees daily, including the first day when I setup hotmail POP3. Sorry I cant be of more help.
