getting ident for work on IRC Snak software

I am trying to get ident to work on Mac Snak IRC software. I installed their optional ident software. But, the IRC server always reports no ident response. I tried enabling port 113 on the router, even tried turning the firewall off, but it still doesn't work. I am using OS 10.6 Anyone have a solution to this?
