hello. I had a problem similar to this with my iphone that i have had for 2 years but not i have a macbook pro and have run into it again..
I have a school email address (NYU). I have set up my school email to my email application on my macbook. I get my inbox mail fine but i can only see sent emails that I sent through the email app.. If I sent an email through the school's email system (on a computer at school, for example) I do not see this is my sent box of my mac email application. Likewise, I do not see the sent emails from my mac in the school's system. I set the outgoing server to what the school website said "smtp.nyu.edu" does anyone know what I can do to change this? thanks.

I think the mail protocol needs to be IMAP before this can work, so if your uni mail doesn't allow for IMAP, it won't work the way you want it to.

If it is IMAP compatible, you'll need to set up as such.

Check your uni websites for instructions as to how to implement IMAP folders etc.
