getting mobileme sync error (not even using it)

I originally had a mobile me account. I no longer use it and now have my Calendar and Contacts set up to sync with Google. I also signed up for an iCloud account.

The problem is I frequently get a mobile me sync error even though I am signed out and don't have mobile me set up to sync with anything? Since I no longer use it is there a way to disable it or remove it (or get rid of that sync error)?
