Well in about two weeks I'm going to purchase my first Mac and I don't know what apps, backpack and accessories to purchase. I'm buying the 2011 base model 15" MacBook Pro. It's going to be mainly used for music, video, internet, homework which is just typing and creating presentations.

Grab a cheap small backup like Western Digital's Passport Elite ($50-$70 depending on size) I have the 500 gig version that I use as backups for Time Machine. Other than a backpack / case / satchel of sorts it's up to you.
