Getting new watch ultra. How to pair when phone is on IOS 16.1 beta

Hi. My title says it all. My iPhone 13 Pro max is running beta 16.1. I will get getting the ultra soon. I know it comes with OS9. 1) Can it still be paired with my phone even though the watch is not running the latest beta and if not, any ideas on how to update the watch if I can’t pair it with the phone.

Shouldn’t be a problem. I have a 13 Pro Max on iOS 16.1 and a AW 6 on watchOS 9.0. Works fine. You just can’t run a watch beta with an older iOS.

Did this work for you? I’m on 16.1 too and just got a new Apple Watch and cannot pair it. After hours of trying I eventually had to downgrade to iOS 16.02, and then was finally able to setup the Watch. But then I couldn’t backup my phone so went back to 16.1 and everything seemed fine until I realized the Watch was no longer connected to my phone. Now it won’t pair again. Does the Watch have to be on the beta as well? I’m lost here.

I had to go back to 16.02 to pair the watch so I could update it to 9.1, then was able to update my phone to 16.1 again. But the watch unpaired itself somehow, at least they are both in the latest beta but I’m out of ideas.
