My iPhone 12 Pro Max is acting weird so Apple will be sending me a replacement via express replacement. I’ve never had to have a phone replaced before. When I receive the replacement phone, is there anything I need to get it up and running on AT&T? I’m assuming a sim swap from the old to new phone…anything else?

I've never called. Just swapped SIM. Gives them the opportunity to charge you $40 activation. Give them a reason and they'll try to take it.

1- A sim swap.
2- Call AT&T, have them update ur SIM card number along with the IMEI number.
3- Tell them to refresh the network settings and signal.

VIOLA! Enjoy your iPhone. See you in September for pre-order launch of a new iPhone :)

You only need to update your carrier with a new SIM number if the SIM has been replaced.

Well, one thing you could do if it's actually necessary (i.e. you're having a problem) is go into the phone app and enter either *#*#4636#*#*, or *3001#12345#* (not exactly certain which one will do what on an iPhone) and you could be sure all your SIM card → cell network settings are up to date.

However, in general, one of the awesome things about GSM vs. CDMA is that you just swap SIM cards and you're good to go. That's one of the reasons I left Sprint nearly a decade ago. (The rest of the world probably thinks we are nuts in this country to be carrier-tied and having to go hat-in-hand to them because we want to use a different phone, or go to a different carrier.)

You don’t have to do all that and I never had any issues with AT&T, Verizon and T mobile. Only sprint has that chaotic system.
