I have a mid-2012 Macbook Air(2Ghz i7/256GB) that I want to get rid of. It holds no charge so it would need a new battery. What my best option of getting any kind of $$$ for this? I went thru Apple's trade in site and with a good battery it is estimated at $200 which seems very good. Thinking of replacing the battery and trading it in for whatever I can. Thoughts? I was actually going to toss it until someone told me I might be able to trade it in...

You want to buy a new battery and trade it in? That is the worst thing you can do.

First trade ins are always lower than direct sell via eBay or Craigslist.
Second is that you won't get the money back which cost you a new battery

Just a suggestion, perhaps replace the battery (isn't it discounted at the moment? Or is that just the iPhones?), then sell it with the ticket 'recent battery replaced' look at the market for your laptop now, consider what the battery replacement will cost, and then consider what people will pay if you were honest with the listing saying that the battery isn't working very well, and I think this option makes sense.
