Getting rid of that Macintosh HD icon

How do you get rid of that "Macintosh HD" on your desktop? How do you get a totally clean desktop as displayed on the box of the MBP?

go to the finder and go to preferences then gerneral tab and click off the Hard Disks.

Can you hide the icon that gets created when you use bootcamp, but keep the "Macintosh HD" icon? Or do you have to have them all on or off?

Pretty much either on or off. I think you can eject the Boot Camp partition and do something in Terminal, but it's pretty complicated and I don't think you can access your Boot Camp partition.

big sound icon and volume control, why does it mute?

Why does that huge sound icon stay up on my screen and autoimatically mute the music for a while. I installed the new iTunes and what's with the hide volume control!

Does somebody have a "Macintosh HD" white ghost icon on Desktop of El Capitan?

It appears every time my mac returns from Standby.

Seems to be a terrible bug of 10.11.2.

No settings in Finder help to disable that icon.
