I was robbed and my iphone was stolen. The day after I went out and bought a new one and I am very happy with it :D. The detective is who working my case found an iphone at a pawn shop and wants to match its serial number with the iphone that was stolen from me. Is there a way to get this serial number through my computer?

Thanks but I bought my phone from an att store. I got a copy of the receipt and its not in the same format of the serial number on the back of the iphone. Its number only of digits. The number on the back of my new iphone is of digits and letters.

Good idea I have to call home tomorrow and check. I was really hoping it would be saved on the computer somewhere being that the iphone is still showing up under the itunes preferences under syncing.

The serial # is definatley on the box. My serial # is not on the back of my phone so iremember getting it off the box for the credit. I think its also on the original reciept if you kept it. Good luck.

If your using a mac goto your /Users/"Username"/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/"Folder"/info.plist

"Folder" is a folder named with a long series of numbers and letters. "Username" is whatever your logon name is. Your serial number is in the info.plist file.

AWSOME!!! Great detective work. I'll let you know if it matches the serial number from the pawn shop. Cross your fingers!

Make sure its your old serial because your new one will have its own folder if you have synced your new phone to that computer.

Yeah I saw that, thanks. You beleive when I called ATT up they couldn't release my old serial number to me. Boy, if they only knew it was saved on my computer

That number is the IMEI, sounds just what the detective needs.
