Getting Skype to see audio AND video from my digital camera

I've seen many many people asking how. I have the answer:

My Panasonic GS500 has a USB output ... I set the camera to use that USB as a webcam and I connected that to the USB port on my MBP OSX 10.6.8.

The camera also has a DV (FireWire). I connected that simultaneously to the FireWire port on my MBP.

I then launched Skype to see my connection. Voila ... success.
