getting two g3 imacs netx month

well the title ways it. i know thats a little outdated but my mom and dad want one will share. then i want one. they are specd out like this
indigo
g3 500mhz
20gB hdd
256 ram
dvd/cd

the old crt style........

about 99bucks a piece. is this a good deal? they also come with a 30 day warranty and are in good condition.. but dont come with restore cd/s

jaguar is the os i think either that or panther. which ever is newer 10.3-10.4

is there still updates for this? and is there any way to very quickly look at it when its turned on ( with out a software install to see if the os is legit?

$99 seems a little steep. I assume you are purchasing these items from some online vendor? I bet you could get the same machines off of Craiglist for half that.

I guess we should ask what your father plans on doing with this G3? Seems to me these machines have outlived their usefulness. Even with basic web browsing and email. I would recommend a G4 processor.
 
just for email and internet and a small program. hey what does it take to run parallells?

plus we dont have a lot of money so spend. not even the 399for a g4 mac


plus he used a 500mhz chip intel before and he was blown away by it.
[rant] and i heard tht even though ppc cpus are only rated at 500 mhz they can do more integer calculations a second. )

but even if they only last 3 years until we can affford mini macs
 
and i want one just as a backup for internet when in installing onmy main system. and just for the geeky ness and experience of using a mac. mainly if momandpop have probmels with their mac i could have an idea of my war around them
 
but if they have that os on them they theroatically run fairly decent if im not running a lot of crap REMEMBER i dont have a lot of money like yall do im just a poor boy \wanting to experiment with the mac os and dont want to do the osx86 project at all i will not do that:apple::apple::apple::apple::apple::apple::apple::apple::apple::apple::apple::apple::apple:
