I want a Gevey SIM for an upcoming UK trip. I plan to get a 3 or Vodaphone PAYG SIM for it. My understanding is you need to activate it via iTunes.

The questions are, can I activate in the US the morning I leave? I assume not.

If not, can I activate on any iTunes computer in the UK? Will I be forced to sync, or do I just click "never register" and unplug the phone and wait?

Upon return to the US, I would take the Gevey SIM out. Would I then need to reactivate my normal AT&T SIM?

Are there any caveats/downsides to getting a Gevey Ultra S versus just getting a cheap travel phone?

Thanks!

you sure about that?

from applenberry.com

"Untethered Unlock
No need to connect your device to a computer or jailbreak to unlock. Just plug and play!"

All you need to do is put the gevey with the 3 UK sim in the phone and it will work

If your iphone is already activated (officially) then you won't have problems in activation.
The only problem that you'll face is using your iphone on another network.
for instance, if you have an iphone from AT&T, and it's activated, then you tried to use O2 SIM, it'll show you "No Service".
the iPhone will be working without network.

other than that, you won't face any problem.

and as you said, the only way to solve that is the GeveySIM.
if you have iPhone 4S, try R-SIM III.
it should work perfectly.

thanks. I have an already activated AT&T 4S. Are you recommending R-SIM III because it works better than the Gevey Ultra S, or did you not know about the Ultra S?

Well, both of them are alike.
in both cases you'll have what you need.

just go with which one you feel good with it :D

Or. Just call your carrier and tell them you're going abroad, want to use a pay and go sim.
