Gevey works with iOS5 ? [Merged]

Regarding the newest firmware update, does anyone know if you update to IOS 5, is the gevey sim still working? other then that can you update and preserve the base band?

anyone have any comments or updates on this?

Hello Experts !

i have Jailbroken iphone4 with 4.3.3 (8j2) , FW 04.10.01 and unlocked with Gevey.

Can i upgrade to iOS5 ? can i still unlock using Gevey ? has anybody tried it ?

Somewhere i was reading , and it was saying that Don upgrade to iOS5 if you are Gevey Users as Gevey doesnt work with new baseband which comes with iOS5. Is it true ?

OR. can i still upgrade to iOS5 without changing my Baseband ? HOWWWWWWWWWW ?????


Please . help..Your Thoughts are welcome and appreciated...

No, it doesnt work on official 5.0
You will have to update and maintain your bb using Tinyumbrella.

But HOW ? i know how to use TU. but where do i get iOS5.ipsw ? soi can load using itunes ?

You donload TU and click start TSS server.
Then you plug your phone and open itunes and click restore/update.
Itunes will download and install the latest 5.0 for you.
Once its done restoring it will give you an error and you will then use TU to kick it out of recovery mode and that's it.

I updated to iOS 5 but with sn0wbreeze (it's tether jailbreak for now), here is the guide (unfortunately only for windows):

Hint: to boot with Gevey startup screen you have to turn off the wireless and boot with iBooty

OH, So if TU is running then its safe to restore directly from itunes ?
i thought you need to download .ipsw saperetly and then start TU's server and press Shift and Restore and select that downloaded .ipsw file to restor..
